we place so much responsibility
on the shoulders of god
to prolong our existence

how long
will you want
to be awake

in eternity
even if a day is a thousand years
the concept of a million
is far beyond the bounds
of biblical time
not to mention
forever and ever
or is it the lie
we tell ourselves
that we never have to die
even though we do

believe what you will
but how you live on
after your death
depends
on the person
you were
while you lived
among the people
who live on

you are remembered
for what you did
your deeds
can spark love
even after death

while

wicked deeds leave
a lingering stench
on the name
of the stirrer
of hate

grace
comes to us all
when the thinking is over
the blissful silence
that
you and i
receive
