god is man's sin storage locker

mankind misuses god
to justify his ugliest side
and absolve himself of the evil
he inflicts on the heathens

mankind misuses religion
for the illusion of morality
the matador's red cape
that leads the eye away from reality

mankind loads his guilt
onto the shoulders of god
and walks away
relieved of responsibility

the sins of those
who belong to god
belong
in god's lap

if you were god
how would you like it
mankind bothering you all day
with his heaviest burden
and all the skeletons
in his closet
