the unpopular opinion

this book is for no one

the people who need this book
won't read it

the people who will read this book
don't need it

still I consider it necessary
to put on record
my unpopular opinion

so no one assumes
we are one, at one, or alike

though we are one, alike and all
we differ

who are we
what is all

this is the other side
said once

because the silence spoke
when we stopped talking

opportunity
time

to look within

to type out
from my heart
and head

ideas unresolved
ununturned
simply unlocked

to examine up close

so when we talk again
we can leave certain things unsaid

and so dodge the predicaments
that force silence

difficulty
difficult
to avoid

but worth the trouble
to iron out

for the best way
to a long-term future

for all our children who
stay behind
