the innocent believer and the belief of guilt

it's not the believer's fault
that he believes lies
the guilt belongs to those
who wilfully and knowingly
cook up fabrications
and proclaim them
as truth
good people believe
that to believe
is to do good
because all their lives
they have been told so
innocent
some spreaders
of religion
are uninformed yet good
and around them you'll see a world bloom
because goodness makes good
in spite of god
innocent
others who know what they're doing
command god
to create wealth for themselves
with god's power
without a moment's thought
for the damage
he does
he is guilty
regardless of whether
he's held liable for it
because despite his breaking
of the first four
and the ninth commandments
such a person is hardly
held responsible
because on earth
such a person is praised
for being god's agent
authorised by people
who cower together
and seek shelter
from the thought
of a certain death
the preacher's mere presence
soothes a believer
because the semblance
of compassion
dampens the longing
for meaning
in a meaningless world
offering a kind of comfort
to the living
on earth
because it's only while you live
that faith has any value at all
