with fascinating stories
wonderfully told
take it for what it is
deviations and heresy
don't unwrite the bible
they only derail man

what is in the book
lives with the book
and what is in the head
perishes with the head

whatever you believe
the bible remains a book
written by people

that it is god's word
is not a fact
it is merely
the opinion
of believers

every time man receives it
it's from the hand or mouth
of just another human

who among us
heard of moses
and his conversations
with god
directly from moses?
or from god?

holding on
to the promises in it
is human wishful thinking
in the head

people
talk to god
regularly
sometimes
they say
god himself
talks back
some make it up
sometimes to fool others
sometimes themselves

an interpretation
that stirs up
emotional meaning
on wobbly feet
loosely hooked
to random connections
in perceived reality
contrived and canonised
to create the belief that

stories in the bible

with sorcery
à la harry potter

are a contract
with real life
to soothe tempers
to offer the illusion of certainty
so that all who believe
already have all the answers
so the thinking can stop
and we can enjoy the rugby
with the bible
