by teaching us to live

and live in peace with all
even those who crucify you

because who on earth doesn't like a guy
who brings wine to the party
with a good answer to every question
who relieves and heals people
multiplies food
by showing a crowd
if we share what we have
there's left over
twelve baskets full

the best person who ever was
pinned down a lifetime after his lifetime
by people with their own thoughts
and designs

jesus

a concoction
cast from the
best qualities
of all good gods
a supergod
a compilation of miracles
from earlier tales
adapted and handed over
to jesus

who relatively quickly succumbs
after not even a day
on the cross
rises again just as quickly
after his brief death
on the third day
fact bites the dust
like his blood
for people
who want to insist
on eternal life
in heaven
for those who suffer
on earth

how much hay fits on a camel's back
to deliver all the rich evangelists
from earth
to heaven
never mind the admin alone

i mean

if we expect jesus
to save us all personally
show me the place
where he signed the contract
or was it paul
the emperor
or the pope
and miss van niekerk
who posthumously
let that agreement
drop from jesus' mouth

what we do know for sure
all jesus' words
are hearsay
only a generation later
laid to rest on paper
and when i look
how words can twist a deed in a minute

load a single straw
every year
on that donkey's back
